Belt cake

Redefining the meaning of an everyday
object through packaging design

I was given the task of repackaging the items discarded by someone and giving them values so that people feel like to use them again. I went to thrift store and randomly chose the items we were drawn to. Thinking about the memory with my father when I was young, I chose the belt. My father had no particular interests in things other than belts and wallets so I gave him those two alternately as his birthday gifts. For the father who expects every year, which present of the two he would receive, I packaged the belt to make it look like a roll cake so that he can be surprised upon receiving the package. Added to this, just like the customized cake for sale, I designed the brand called ‘Belt Cake’ which allows belts to be customized.
